The dryer portion of my washer/dryer doesn't start. the start button buzzes when I push it, but it doesn't go

  1. o.k. when you open the dryer door an look at the back of the door you should see a small spike. that spike goes into a small hole in the face of the dryer to depress a small electrical switch. the switch's job is short circuit the motor if the door is not closed (safety) . it is cheaply made an fails every couple of years. close to the hole you'll see a metal s***w that is not painted. that is the only thing holding the switch in place. sometimes you can replace it from the outside and sometimes you have to take the face off. the part costs a buck or two. if you want to check the switch pull the two wires off it an short them out,plug the dryer back in an push the start button. if it runs with the door open you know its the switch. good luck!


  2. this may sound stupid but are you setting the dry time and settings?   If you are then your switch may have gone bad... I remember watching my son sit there and hit start on our dryer several times to get frustrated....only to realize he hadn't selected the drying time  or   >>> more dry >>> less dry on some dryers.
