The duo of Mei Kuan-Meng Yean keenly awaits national training camp – Badminton news
The young Malaysian female duo Chow Mei Kuan-Lee Meng Yean is keenly waiting the day when they will start their training under national doubles coach Rexy Mainaky.
The pair revealed their prime skills in the Selangor Open last week and paved their path to the women’s doubles finals. The duo Mei Kuan-Meng Yean is going to be with the seniors in training sessions first time and all set to comprehend the best from the
veterans.
Meng Yean said, “The training with the seniors will be tough and I know we have a lot of catching up to do. We want to polish up our skills and learn new things. This will be a great experience for us and we are quite excited about it.”
The duo Mei Kuan- Meng Yean has been playing together since the age of twelve and the Bukit Jalil Sports School (BJSS) was the first institution they entered to learn the basics of game. They registered their presence in Malaysian badminton circle by playing
last Selangor Open final in Kuala Lumpur.
They are rated as the best talent of Malaysia in women’s doubles category as they surpassed many senior players in their expedition to last Selangor open finals. They have now set their eyes to clinch the Asian and Junior World champion titles this year.
They idealise the duo of Chin Eei h*i and Wong Pei Tty and the Malaysian girls give themselves four years to register their mark in the international badminton arena.
Meng Yean said, “We look up to Chin Eei h*i-Wong Pei Tty as our role models. They are experienced and quite formidable on the international stage. We hope to be like them – hopefully in the next three to four years. If all works out fine, we hope to make
it to the 2016 Olympic Games.”
Mei Kuan-Meng Yean lost to experienced Vivian Hoo-Woon Khe Wei in the Selangor Open finals yesterday with final score sheet of 19-21 and 7-21 but their performance was applauded despite of their failure.
The pair has come a long way and a proper guidance is certainly going to take them very far.
