  1. Cauliflower ear.

This is very near and dear to me.  I have had my ears "fixed" 5 times now.

It happens when repeated contact occurs on the ear from rubbing or being hit during a fight.  Grapplers get this alot because they use their head to push and gain leverage as they fight.

What happens is the layers of cartlidge in the ear seperates a bit and blood gets in between them.  It will sit there and eventually accumulate and harden....hence giving the ear a "puffy" look.

I personally think it looks like meatballs hangin off the head.

It can be prevented however if the ear is drained via neetle and monitored.  In some cases, it is required that the ear is sliced open a bit to allow drainage and then sewn back shut.

    Best prevention is head gear.

    Hope this helps!

  2. James Thompson's was nasty... and it's because they get punched in the ears.

  3. its called caulley flower ear. they get it i beilive from where they train and their ears rub up against the mats and shorts and things like that.

  4. No, their called cauliflowered.

And they get them from getting punched in the ears.
