  1. What do you think the Earth would look like if there were no sewer systems?  We can change the Earth!  We need to control the c**p coming out of our cars and machines,as well as our butts!

  2. It is actually very difficult for humans to increase the temperature of the whole Earth no matter what we do. The sun has to do that for us.

However man does have the ability to COOL the Earth significantly and for a long time. We just need to help a few remote volcanoes to explode prematurely.

Thats why we shouldn't worry. We can cool off any time we need to.

  3. arrogance

  4. Because the current changes are caused by humans. Since we are the cause, we can stop it.

I do have a question for you.  Why do the "skeptics" keep asking incredibly stupid questions like this? Do they think other people don't see the logical fallacy involved in even asking the question? Or are they really that ignorant?

  5. i think the earth is going to change whether we like it or not and we really can't do anything to stop it,but what we can do is prevent the bad from happening and make most of what we have now without taking advantage of earth,

  6. they are libs and have fallen for gores scam

  7. Since the begining, man has always wanted to believe that they are in control. It's the role of politicians and priest to feed mans ego, and control mans actions for power and money. Elect me and I'll lower gasoline prices, follow my reliogion or you won't go to heaven, etc.

Unfortunately, there are always those who will follow any scheme, hair brained or not.  No one ever said that con men are dumb. As PT Barnum said, "there is a fool born every minute, and 2 to take him"!

  8. Because we carve out hundreds of mountains and burn them at 1500°C to produce iron

Because we burn hundreds of moutains at 1500°C worldwide to produce 2,500,000,000 tonnes of cement worldwide.

Because we deforested worldwide several times the size of the UK within the last decade

Because we emitt per year the equivalent of a cube of 30x30x30km of CO2 per year.

Because we burn within a year millions of years of fossil fuel reserves

Because in a lot of places the quantity of material transported by humans is for the first time on this planet larger than the volume naturally carried by erosion.

Because the rate of extinction of species is 10 000 times what it is usually.

  9. the ones who are really in charge, know better.   They know that CONTROL is the only thing that matters, what better way to gain said control than to promote a 'new' danger to all man kind, UNLESS you follow our guidelines?

  10. We humans have been able to do a lot of things if we wanted to and were willing to spend the resources.

There is also good evidence that humans can affect the climate of a planet, even if so far we've only done it accidentally (but that's not to say we couldn't deliberately change the climate if we wanted a different one).

  11. It's not so much about stopping the change (even the AGW proponents say their cap and trade schemes may lower temps by tenths of a degree).  It is all about seizing money from individuals by taxing. More money for government means more power for government.

  12. Thanks, crabby... I, too, wonder about the inverse relationship between the degree of skepticism and level of intelligence.

    Back to the question:

1 - The only humans who think that we want, or can, stop change are the skeptics on YA (see above)

2 - AGW proponents want to stop (careful, there is more than one word here and they all have more than one syllable so you might need to sit down)  'Anthropomorphic Global Warming'

See, as it is anthropomorphic, that means caused by people. And if something has been caused by people, then it can be changed or stopped by people.

    Clear now?

  13. Humans can't stop natural changes (e.g. orbital anomalies, volcanic eruptions, solar output), but they can stop changes that their own activities are causing (e.g. current global warming).

  14. Cause we are arrogant b******s, and we feel were better then anything and anyone. Ever wonder why an ant colony survives. it treats everyone in the colony equal. too much knowledge can be a bad thing. We kill everything and eat everything. Every animal is some kind of aphrodisiac.

  15. Because people hate people, even hating themselves in the process. People always look for someone or something to blame and among the not even so far-left in America, it is either conservatives, America, or just humans in general.

Since the earth can't be to blame for a slight temperature rise, it has to be humans. If it was the earth doing it, it wouldn't be a problem and therefore it wouldn't require us to do something. Without humans having to do something, the government and those with power wouldn't have to do anything. If they don't have to do anything, why the h**l do we need them. Are you catching on here?

Whether there is man-made global warming or not, the fact is the earth has warmed over the last century. Those with power and influence see this as an opportunity to enhance their power, giving them more control over our lives. So who do you trust, can't trust the oil companies, the politicians, the media, scientist who depend on funding for research, or yahoo answers.

We have to make common sense, cost-benefit, rational decisions. The costs of us trying to control the climate would be tremendous. Excluding the vast amount of resources we would have to devote, up front, to "solving" climate change, the future cost of impairing economic growth through carbon taxes would devastate the Western world and prop up those who don't care, like Russia and China.

These extremely high risk- low yield investments just don't make sense and are not investments that I am willing to take and niether should you. Yes we need to invest in clean technologies, in better efficiency, in getting off of oil, and a million other things for the sake of humanity. But these won't "solve" global warming, they can't, what's done is done. This is a struggle over power, over money, over which technologies get the green light for government funding, over which investors make a tonne of money, over which economies thrive and which are hampered by regulation and taxation, over a global power struggle among governments and among ideologies. This has nothing to do with climate change or global warming and everything to do with power, money, and influence.

  16. Because they are too egotistical. We could change the world all right but the effects will be minimal. No prob.

  17. I doubt that anyone wants to stop the natural path that the Earth is supposed to take; to stop change.

But, with global warming, It is probably our fault and in that way, we are deviating from the natural path. So, in essence I don't think that the goal is to stop all change; just to stop man-made change that could ruin the planet.

  18. because humans have been causing the earth to change

the reason why the north pole is melting is because of cars&oil

  19. Because they're uneducated and extremely gullible. Global warming doesn't exist.

  20. It has been studied for years and most could not understand why we were warmer than we should be..It has nothing to do with Global Warming.. I suspect that the averageing of non caliborated thermometers. Also they just averaged the old temperature records. Sorry guys but there are more cities in the warn zone than in the cold zone. This alone could indicate that it was warmer when it was not..

  21. Natural change is fine.

It's human change that is the problem.

  22. The fact that it has changed naturally in the past does not disprove man-made change this time around.

It does mean that we can't just INFER that because there's change, we're causing it - and that inference is really all they have.

  23. Pretty simple - we're not going to stop all climate change.  We're just going to stop the change caused by humans, which is causing the planet to warm at a very dangerous rate.
