The pay now is what 7.15 an hour for minimum wage... how in the world does that get anyone by? Even if you work a full 40 hour a week thats only 286 dollars. now what if thats on the books, now you have to pay taxes. there goes 20-30 dollars. So now you got 250 say and now you have child support, so theres another 20 or so dollars so now you got 230 dollars. you are ganna need all the bill money so thats another 50-100 dollars depending on how much you use. then you need rent! you tell me what you have left when the lowest rent ive seen is 300 dollars a month! and when you have kids think....you make 1,144 dollars a month do the math and let me know what is left!

  1. Your telling me..I live in NJ and have a 10yr old son whom Im raising alone.

Rent is 1k for a 1brd and with a 10yr old you have to have 2, they need privacy at this age, so thats like 1400. plus factor in HUGE insurance rates here that run me at least 230/mth and a car pmt...after school care, extra curricular activities, FOOD

God Im moving to another planet.

  2. I blame Bill Clinton.  This is obviously a democratic liberal plot to turn the country over to the communists.

    (wink)

  3. The federal minimum wage will go from $5.85 to $6.25 the 24th of this month.

While many States have minimum wages lower than your's, others have higher.

Washington. having the highest of $8.07 an hour. and California, and Massachusetts both at $8.00 an hour.

and it is true that it is hard to make ends meet even at that wage.

That is why I would encourage everyone to get a better education.

Even if you have to get it online, or part time.

A better education means a better paying job.

  4. I think minimum wage is $6.25 where I live, and if it's not I know that it's for sure under $7.  I really don't know how people get by.

  5. yes life sucks, and when my work gives me a pay raise they also raise the price of Health Insurance so its not really a pay raise
