how did the marine die from diving into a grenade to save his buddies? can you give me specific cause of death? the descriptions may be graphical

  1. well you can be pretty sure his limbs tore apart. blood spattered on his buddies. pretty much it. organs may have even flung to different places.

Understand that grenades are extremely dangerous devices, and someone who covers up one with his body knows that he will die in the resulting explosion.  The intent is to save one or more of the other people in the immediate vicinity.  Most grenades have some fragmentation effect: small bits of metal or wire are thrown outward in all directions by the explosive.  The person who throws himself on the grenade is not only blown up by the explosive, but is shredded by the metal fragments.  It is very messy.

  3. well, for one, he's not the only one to do it. soldiers all over have been saving their squads by pouncing on grenades. S****y way to go if you ask me, but man would it take balls, every one of them deserves the medal they got.

    the cause of death is pretty obviously the combination of explosive and shrapnel tearing your body to shreds and sending it flying apart.
