  1. Really depends on how much support the parents are giving the student.  Yes the more well-off students should have high grades due to there receiving more of what they want vs. what they need.  But given too much "stuff" can also cause a negative approach to "real world" work and effort.  From the lower statuses there tends to be a better work ethic instilled in the children which relates to higher achievers to move upwards.

  3. Usually students who come from high SES backgrounds do better. It's expected from the parents and their status to do well so that they end up with the same status
