  1. A logging town would experience dire economic consequences if the logging industry within its borders ceased to exist.  Townspeople who worked as loggers would join the ranks of the unemployed.  Businesses such as restaurants that catered to the lunch crowd of loggers would suffer, and the local government would lose tax revenue and have to expend money in welfare and food stamp benefits to the unemployed.  As the logging industry declined in a town, the town could start preparing for alternative industries.  Hopefully they will plant seeds to replace the trees that have been cut down.  They could market themselves as a forest retreat.  Open a hotel and advertise a nature eco-tourism destination.

  2. this is one of those questions that have a long list of effects that that happens in most cases where logging is the biggest suppler of work you can see a complete devastating effect if the logging operation is closed for you to see this is a kinda Hollywood style see the movie walking tall it shows what can happen of a Hollywood scale but in most cases where lumber company's go out of business the cost of certain things like homes go up why because you have to transport the material to the home depot Lowe's or other lumber supplier then you have the other effects jobs there are a lot of jobs affected by the lose of a lumber company or logging company restaurants can go bust then you have the overall population goes down because people have to move to find jobs because there are not enough to go around so in the long run if a town/city is and has been or ever was dependent on a lumber job it could cause the town/city to almost go into a small reshion and homes lost business close all sorts of things like that

unfortunately there is little that any one can do short of supplying a job market for the quantity of people that lost it due to the logging industry closing

most people know that the logging industry is at a all time low and with that the housing market is low along with other things related to that kind of industry unless the town has a thriving economy the town becomes something of a ghost town untell something moves into that area to supply stubility and a market for jobs and better over all ecomany

  3. Most logging happens for the timber which can be used for various purposes. If there has to be sustained logging then the entire process has to be planned in such a manner that every for every tree cut few new are planted, and you cover only a restricted area at any given time. Thus by the time you go to your last lot the first one has full grown trees ready for logging.

The key is proper planning and re-planting in a phased manner.

If not done right then once the logging operation ends the entire industry dependant on it could suffer bad.
