    so a 1.5 hp motor uses 1118.5 watts


  2. Not completely sure what your question is asking but I can explain the rating.

    1 kwh is exactly that 1 Kilowatt used for one hour.  So if you ran something that consumed 1000 watts for one hour then you've used 1 Kwh.

    If you use 1 light bulb that consumes 100 watts and you keep it on for 10 hours that's 100 watts x 10 = 1000 watts.  So you would have to run a 100 watt bulb for 10 hours to use 1 kilowatt hour.

    The reason they list it as .1 kwh is to avoid having to do that math.  If you run a 100 watt bulb for 1 hour you have used .1 kwh of electricity.

    'wh' or 'kwh' is energy spent (or work done out of it) and 'w', 'kw' or 'hp' is power, the speed at which energy is spent (or rate at which work is done).

    So,  '.1 kwh' per 100 watt is

    100 wh / 100 w = 1 h (one hour). I don't understand what it is; you make it out.

    1.5 hp = 1119 w = 1.119 kw.

    I still don't get what do you mean by '1.5 hp motor uses the same'. I take it that you replace the 100 w bulb with 1.5 hp motor (both are consumers of electric power).

    100 wh / 1119 w = 0.089 h = 5min 22sec.

    It means the motor consumes the same amounts of energy that 100 w bulb does in an hour, in 5min 22sec; 11.19 times faster. For that, the current carrying wire should carry 11.19 times more current than the wire for100 w bulb.

    To calculate current carrying capacity you need to know the voltage of supply wire (well, I don't have it!).
