  1. Embassies are not always the soil of the country they represent.  Somtimes host nations will not allow the freedom that would take place in an Embassy given that status.  So just loan the land and if they ever want that country out of theirs they pull the property and say"sorry, need the land".

And most US Embassies don't just let you visit, it's not a tourist spot.  It's an office where people work (albiet not that much). You have to have official business there.

  2. Yes they are the sovereign soil of the country they represent, but if you are a US citizen, as such you do not need a visa to visit the soil of your own country.

  3. Yes and No, its hard to say- Embassy's are classified as that country's soil, but you don't need a visa.

  4. yes they are considered domestic soil. i am British and got robbed in Rome and went to the British Consulate General (posh name for embassy) and i just showed the angry looking Italian police guards my passport and they let me in. if your foreign, you don't need a visa as you can hardly live in the embassy (if you can get past the angry guards). i was in Poland and loads of people were applying to come to work in the UK, for this they needed a visa which you obtain from inside the embassy - although non-British residents had a different entrance.

  5. don't be daft
