Question:

The embryo string on the egg(?)?

I'm not the most picky guy when it comes to food but I have some stuff that I wont/can't bear to eat, one of which is the embryo string on the egg. I always pick it out before i cook the egg.

I'm I the only one that's grossed out by this? What are some stuff that gross you out when it comes to food?

  1. Egg embryo strings....never knew of such a thing.

    As for shrimp tails?

    I've had mixed feeling on these for ever.....sometimes I eat them, others just choke me....so I don't.  It's a mystery I think as to why some are worse than others.


  2. I totally agree with you on what  I call the umbilical cord... I have to remove it too.  

    Also in chicken b*****s there are 2 things that give me the shivers... 1) the small little red vein (yuck!) and the tough tendon that runs the length it (double yuck!) I have a hard time eating  any other part of a chicken besides the b*****s, and even the skinned and no bone get a once-over from me before I'll cook them.

    Grizzle in a steak

    the little white/clearish roundish I-don't-know-what-it-is found in ground hamburgers sometimes at restaurants (is that bits of bone?)

    Sausage and hot dogs (need I say more)

    -- no wonder I stopped eating meat at 8 and was a vegetarian for 5 years...

    Boost... no matter how hard I shake one of those bottles, there is always at the end some slimy chunk that lands on my tongue. ( I ignore it )

    I could go on and on...  I'm just glad to know I am not the only one with the problem with the eggs

  4. I've been removing the white **** from the egg for years when I found out it was spermy stuff. When I think of what the egg actually is, the whole thing grosses me out. About 4 yrs ago I finally stopped eating cow when the story of a cow in a slaughter line jumped the fence. They couldn't find him for days and when they finally did, he was pardoned from becoming sirloin. I freaked out and told everyone they know they're going to die, and not eating burgers and steak anymore. Now I'm stuck on chicken though. I really love boneless white meat though, chicken fingers, parmesan, chicken caesar salad... and I feel guilty for eating it. I don't eat fish, they're slimy and nasty, and some are served with their heads on, GROSS.  Anyone got any good tofu recipes? lol

  5. OMG i do that too LOL and my parents LOL...did you know if you boil the egg and make the yolk hard... when you crack it open and look at the yellow part you will see a small darker spot on the yolk BELIEVE IT OR NOT............. its the sperm...

    And thanks to that i never eat the yellow part any more LOL... Sorry

  6. I always pick it out, too, but I'm picky about everything. I won't eat chicken if I find a vein or a tiny bit of discolouration on it.

    Oh, I don't eat the fat on meat. I've never even hot bacon because it's cold by the time I pick all of the fat off.
