Question:

The energy saving light bulb in my room just exploded!?

I only put it in yesterday! Why did it do that? I'm pretty sure I put it in right.

  1. Sometimes incandescents do that too.

    Faulty bulb.

    Look away from the bulb when s******g it in.


  2. they just do that sometimes, did it make a loud buzzing just before it popped?  or get extremely bright?

    You need to learn something about electricity that statement  would be funny if it was not so wrong.

    all these bulbs use the same voltage 115 volt ac.

    if you don't understand ask you husband, boyfriend or father.

    they could use a good laugh.

I've never had the new energy bulbs explode but I've had 3 of the traditional lightbulbs explode on me.  I have no idea why.  Like someone else said, the new ones contain mercury so be careful, wear gloves when you clean it up and wash your hands good.  I guess you just got a bad one.  Try again with a new one :)
