The english of the israeli people?

How come so many Israeli people are so good at speaking english (american english?) Whenever I see someone from Israel on the news I'm always amazed how well they speak and not just politicians and other officials. Do a lot of them study in the states?

Maybe it's just reporters pickin' the ones that speak english good? Does anybody know?

Are you referring to Israeli politicians commenting on the news?

If so, then you are correct. Reporters will have a tendency to go to spokesmen who can speak the language and the government will have a tendency to send that politicians can speak the language.

If you speak three languages you are tri-lingual

If you speak two languages you are bi-lingual

If you speak only one language then you are British.

Many countries in Europe and around the world their citizens can speak English as well as their own. Eastern Block countries, many people learn at least 4 languages, yet in the UK very few can speak another language.
