As the World Series approaches an end, the St. Louis Cardinals’ general manager is exploring every new avenue to put together an equally strong and resilient team for the 2012 season. The plans, however, are facing delay due to the excitement the post-season
has brought in their fold.
“It's funny, because getting into the postseason this year was somewhat of a surprise for the St. Louis Cardinals," Mozeliak said. "So we were starting to begin a lot of preparatory work, as far as looking at 2012.”
As November is around the corner, there is already an exploratory eye looking for stronger prospects. First and foremost, according to the Cardinals’ general manager, it is to assess the accomplishments made throughout the season, which of course are good.
However, one of the aspects that need to be kept in mind and then decided is the coaching staff for the team. Tony La Russa has been the guiding factor for the team, someone whose able management of the team and his dependable auspices has put the team on
the right track.
It is the presence of Tony La Russa that holds significance for the team. Where the Cardinals stand today, it goes without saying, it would not be possible without the leadership that Tony La Russa commanded in 2011.
“Having a manager in place and that staff in place, that would be probably something that we need to do right away, because, obviously, it's a very difficult task if we were to have to replace Tony," Mozeliak said.
Those issues will be sorted out later. But for Mozeliak, it is great joy and buoyancies of the World Series that need to be celebrated first. Their main focus remains the victory in the Series. If they succeed in achieving it, that will be another feat to
take pride in. Afterwards, the issues pertaining to the future of the team can be resolved then.
The Cardinals are constantly on the lookout for new talent that can provide some impetus to the team for the next regular season. It will be interesting to see what changes the Cardinals make to their team if they win the World Series.
