I hear it is likely to need a new a catalytic converter. What would a standard garage likely charge to fix this?

  1. A replacement pattern part is about £170 for that model, I'd imagine about twice that for the genuine article fitted.

    However, if it's any consolation, it may not be the cat at all, could be the lamda/O2 sensor playing up - much, much cheaper to sort.

  2. Here;

    The cat is £71 plus VAT, so expect to pay around £100-£150 all in. I'd take it to an independent tyre & exhaust fitter, a dealer will absolutely rob you for this.

  3. go to auhorized Vw dealer get an estimate, it maybe the cat which will cost pretty good or just an oxygen sensor.  The cat converter has a longer warranty than the rest of the car and my be covered.  Go to the delaer and find out asap.
