The extra stories in I am Legend,?

Do these stories have anything to do with the i am legend storyline? Some seemed to follow certain aspects and others had nothing to do with it?

I believe the version you are referring to is an anthology or collection of short stories of Richard Matheson, featuring I Am Legend as the main piece. It was issued as a tie in to the Will Smith movie, but included other stories by Matheson as well as the story the the movie is based upon. I believe there is also a novelization of the movie version in addition to the original story, which has a different ending and treats the vampire/monsters quite differently from the movie.
