The falcons and the Pat Bradley Invitational 2010

The 33rd annual Pat Bradley Invitational ended on the 2nd of November at the Pelican Preserve Golf Club in Ft. Myers, FL after Ericka Schneider carded a 68 in her last round. Schneider played from the Daytona State this Invitational
and carded a final score of 210 on the leader board.
The three day Invitational was hosted by Florida International University and was a field of 15 teams.
In the individual standings, the top spot had been a tussle between Schneider, Mitsuki Katahira and Chandra Alexander. Before Schneider entered at the last round of the tournament, she was holding a four stroke front and needed
to push Katahira down the standings for the top spot. Schneider also had to attain a lower score to keep Chandra Alexander from the University of North Texas from threatening her position.
The end was what Schneider had aimed for, Daytona State leader won the event with a 210 while Katahira and Alexander achieved a tie at the 2nd place after carding a 214.
According to Laura Brown the Daytona State Coach, she is highly proud of Schneider’s performance. She said that Schneider’s Tuesday’s play managed to make her one of her most satisfied fans. The coach marvelled at the female golfer’s
ability of being the master of her emotions and said that she showed what fighting for victory really means.
In the team standings, The Daytona State was sidelined by North Texas with only a shots lead. North Texas, also known as the Mean Green, ended the tournament with a total of 876 after playing the lowest score on Tuesday of 288.
The team carded a consecutive score of 294 in the first two rounds as opposed to the Daytona State which scored a final of 877. This team is also known as the Falcons and carded a similar ending score as the Mean Greens of 288. The Falcons carded a 293 and
a 296 in the first two rounds of the event.
The third and fourth place was achieved by team Western Michigan and Maryland with a final score of 887 and 890. The third place team managed to card the highest score in the second round of the Pat Bradley Invitational which was
sandwiched by a 291 and one 293. Maryland carded its highest in the first round only to follow two much lower 295s.
The leader board held Florida International to round up the top five teams of the event which carded a final score of 895. The fifth placers scored a remarkable last round of 292 and collected a 309 and a 294 in the first two rounds.
As far as the sixth position is concerned, the Stetson University attained that place after collecting a total score of 898. The local rivals carded a 311 in the first rounds and then two 298s in the rest of the rounds.
The Bethune-Cookman College was placed at the 15th place after carding a 997. The team scored a 329, one 335 and then a 333 to end their game.
Coming back to the runner up team, the Falcons were led by Katahira and Schneider who kept a good chase after the first round leader Western Michigan. Western Michigan held a two stroke front on Sunday while Schneider’s team held
one shot lead over team North Texas which stood at third place.
With Sunday ending like that, Monday gave The Mean Greens a chance to stand at the top after each of its member carded a good score in the 70s.
The Daytona State, Falcons will now play the Stetson University Invitational at the Victoria Hills Golf Club from the 8th of November to the 9th. As far as Schneider’s plans are concerned, she will be playing for Michele Drinkard’s
