The fan belt in my car squeals when i accel. and brake. anyway to fix it other than a new belt?

Question

when i spray belt lube on the fanbelt while my cars running it goes away for that drive, but when i park and then turn my engine back on later the squeal is even louder....any suggestions?

i can buy a new belt, if needed..

my cars a 97 Ford Taurus GL

Have you tried adjusting the belt? If an adjustment won't cure it then you'll need to replace it. Belt lube is not good to use, just makes things worse.
