No matter how i set the thermostat the fan will not turn off the only way i can turn it off is with the breaker. The out side unit cycles on and off as it should. what could this be and how do i fix it?

  1. check and see if you have the inside set to auto with fan or if the fan is set to on.  If the fan is set to on then change it to auto so it only comes on with the unit

  2. On the thermostat there is a fan switch. There are usually three positions: 1- Auto   2- Off   3- On.......Only when it's on "Auto" will it go on and off with the setting you set it at

  3. it could be the thermostat or the fan relay

  4. make sure the thermostat is set for AUTO and not RUN/ON

  5. look on the thermostat and there should be a switch just for the fan
