The fans in my 1998 dodge stratus have got louder than usual. I was wondering what could be causing that

If you have a fan clutch it probably needs replaced. Being a 1998, it should have a fan clutch. I'm sure that's the problem. Look and see if there is a big circle attached  to the fan. If there is it needs replaced.

you have electric fans on that one ,if their loud enough that you can hear them you need to replace them,it wont be too long before they stop working and lock up,when this happens you,ll run the car hot and ruin a good engine,those engines are good but they wont take too much heat for too long,i know i own one,good luck.
