omg there are a billion online but i used to love this book so i'll write my own summary:

the first day of school goes horribly for alli with her moms underwear clinging from her pants. "Jeremy" makes fun of her every day over and over. Then Rachel, the most popular girl in school defends her. She starts hanging out with her group and becomes good friends with them. then alli's good friend kathy and her new friend megan get mad at her, and rachel and her friends are the only people she has. She has a sleepover with all of them and she has a lot of fun.  But when they were talking about Rachels's strict parents, alli accidently blurts out one of Megan's deep dark secrets. That her dad walked out on her family. After the sleepover, alli reunites with megan, not telling her about what she had said at the sleepover. She also kinda reunites with kathy. Then rumor gets around that Rachel's having a major party for her birthday. Alli is obviously invited, and she invites Kathy and Megan. But one time at lunch megan gets mad at Rachel and rachel blurts out don't get mad at me because your dad walked out on you. Megan gets mad at Alli and so does kathy. But alli goes to the party anyways but she feels really guilty. At the party, Rachel invites jeremy and pretends to like him and asks him to kiss. He does and after, all rachels says, is ew. Jeremy gets mad and Alli suddenly realizes, that Rachel and her posse, weren't her real friends. Rachel and Alli fight, and Alli leaves. After Alli tries to be megan's friend again, but doesn't apologize to Kathy, due to the fact that she has been mean to alli, and critisized her for a while. Megan finally forgives Alli, and she realizes the true meaning of friendship.

This story tells us and teaches us that you can't trust everyone. Also, it shows us who your real friends are, and who just wants to have more friends.
