  1. Muscle cars from the 60's and 70's probably got in the single digits for gas mileage. Also, since you're not the only one who wants to own one, they are very valuable. Even if they do need to be restored, they will still be pricey.

  2. Muscle car and good gas milage don't even go together.....   Newer engine in it would help,LS1 or something like that...

  3. Here's what I would like to have:  this is just me.  Pontiac made, from 1966 to 1969, an ultra-souped-up overhead cam six with very high compression.  This was the OHC6 Sprint engine.  The Sprint had over 200 hp.  A Firebird or a really light Tempest (like a 2 door post) would be light enough to make for a speedy car with this engine, and they should be pretty economical.  And they're interesting.  And they look cool.  They always came with floor shift and the stiff ride option.  This was part of John Delorean's dream of building European style cars (no kidding).

The price is no problem, they're cheap, but they're very hard to find.  Pontiac built plenty, but they were replaced with V8's at the first sign of trouble.  Hard to find survivors.

  4. Wow. 10 points....where will I spend them. To the guy who thinks the only muscle cars had big block engines....you have a lot to learn. You could look for the typical Camaro or Mustang or the "one off's" (Olds 442, Buick Gran Sport, Pontiac Firebird,  Mercury Cougar etc.) There are a lot of cars from that era that get around 15 MPG. It just depends on your personal taste.

  5. if you want decent fuel milage install an overdrive trans or a gear vendors unit.  seen a 62 pontiac catalina with a 389 / tri power.  with a 2004-r trans that got 20mpg.  check these links. to search for a car..

  6. no muscle cars were good on gas bc they all had BIG BLOCKS like 400s and up anything under 400cubic inches doesnt count as a muscle car and the bodies were steel so they were heavy

  7. Buy a cheap 60's mustang in bad shape, but with a good body, under $3,000. Then buy a newer mustang that has been wrecked, the damage being to the rear or side so the engine wouldn't be effected. Use the engine/trans and parts form the newer mustang on the old one. Modern technology( +MPG) and an old school look.Although you would have to know how to do the work and have the time to do it.

Doesn't have to be a mustang, i was just using it as an example. you could use a camaro, gto, or a mustang

  8. good luck...

i want a working time machine...

want in one hand and **** in the other, let me know which one fills up first.

if it was fast it was worth something in the 60s... its worth a shitload now. 15mpg is not decent it is incredible... and yes i know a few of them CAN get 15mpg... who the h**l would drive one that easy? not me!
