The final rankings of AVC Women’s Beach Volleyball Championship, Haikou, China
The wonderful AVC Women’s Beach Volleyball Championship revealed the final rankings on Sunday, 24th October, 2010. The Holiday Beach in Haikou, China recorded an array of great performances from 19-24 October. The event welcomed 23 Women’s teams from Asian continent, while Australian Women’s pair also jumped on the board to take part in the activity.
The tournament was kicked off with the preliminary robin round. Out of 23 teams, only sixteen teams made their way to the next stage. The last 16 round was played on the third day of the tournament and promoted successful teams in the quarter-finals. More teams got eliminated at quarter-final stage and four duos appeared to compete in the semi-finals. China’s Zhang Xi and Xue Chen qualified for the final showdown by defeating a pair from Thailand, which comprised of Kamoltip Kulna/Yupa Phokrongploy. In the other semi-final Japan’s ShinakoTanaka/Sayaka Mizoe came across Tatyana Mashkova/Irina Tsimbalova of Kazakhstan. Victory graced Kazakhstan and they moved to the final with China.
The final combat of the AVC Women’s Beach Volleyball was won by China’s Zhang/Xue in two straight sets as they outplayed Kazak ladies by posting 21-13 and 21-7 respectively. Likewise, the unsuccessful semi-finalist teams, Japan and Thailand met in the third place match. Japan made its mark and clinched the bronze medal by thrashing 2-1 victory over Thailand. At the end of AVC Women’s Beach Volleyball Cup, all the participants took their positions as follows:

Gold Medal Match
The Olympic bronze medallists Zhang Xi and Xue Chen of China settled for the top spot in the women’s ranking at AVC Women’s Beach Volleyball Championship 2010. They were challenged by Tatyana Mashkova and Irina Tsimbalova of Kazakhstan. The two sides demonstrated great effort in order to clinch the top honour of the championship.
The home-side was totally dominant on the visitors. They claimed the first set at 21-17 with a delivery of nice shots. They attacked the Kazak side with shooting spikes in second set and overpowered them by sending 21-7.
Xue was delighted with the fabulous victory. She expressed her views after the match, "We have made lots of preparation before the match, noting that it's the first time they fought against Kazak players. We controlled the situation since the match started and we did very well in attack and defense today."
Bronze Medal Match
ShinakoTanaka/Sayaka Mizoe of Japan downed Thailand’s Phokongploy Yupa/Kulna Kamoltip 21-19, 14-21, 19-17 to seize the bronze medal of the women's competition.
The first set of the game was a bruising battle between two teams. Both sides fought like hungry wolves but Japan achieved success in the first set. Thailand created a bit of spark in the second set and levelled the score at 1-1 by winning the set. However, Japanese ladies put their magic in the game and won the following set. Japan got hold of the bronze medal.
