The first ten amendments, or the Bill of Rights, list the basic rights and freedoms that govern Americans’ lives. Which four of those rights are most important to you? Why?

  1. 2, 4, 1 & 5 in that order.

    The most basic need is personal survival. The second amendment protects access to the tools to accomplish that.

    Next, my stuff is my stuff. The government will keeps its hands off without first presenting a damned good reason to a judge and obtaining a warrant. (At least that was the theory prior to Bush)

    Next, I can freely excange ideas with my fellow citizens without governmental interference.

    Finally, protection against arbitrary and abusive prosecution.


  2. Freedom of speach, freedom from compulsory religion,

  3. Freedom of expression, right to vote, freedom of abode, right to travel and freedom from illegal arrests/searches are the most important rights brought about by amendments.
