my dad just gave me his old blackberry curve, but the battery could barely hold a charge for 2 hours, so we bought a new one. the phone is apparently "finickey" about chargers- my dad said sometimes it charges, and sometimes it doesn't. when i put the new battery in and plugged it in, the light lit up red, and the screen showed a battery with a lightning bolt. the red light only stayed on for a few seconds, and the picture (of the battery that was all that the screen showed) would stay on the screen for a few minutes and then go out. how do i know if it is really charging or not?

  1. The battery with the lightning bolt should stay on the screen during the entire charging process.

If there is nothing on the screen, I am guessing the battery is not charging. It sounds as if there is a short in the cable or USB connector on the phone.
