  1. Bobby is right there aren't any fossils that have been found from the beginning of earth. Fossils are used to date the age of certain types of rock layers.  Severely metamorphic rock and igneous rock doesn't have any fossils.  


  2. Not much, I think.   Dating rock layers using radioactive isotopes is much more important.    Fossils would help date certain layers of rock, or mountain ranges perhaps, but not the age of the earth.   Fossils do not go back that far, for one thing.
