  1. Three-toed ... called eohippus (also known as dawn horse). Although there were 4 toes on the front  and three toes on the rear all were functional three-toed.


  2. The ancestral horse Hyracotherium averaged only 2 feet (60 cm) in length and averaged 8 to 9 inches (20 cm) high at the shoulder. It had 4 hoofed toes on the front feet and 3 hoofed toes on each hind foot. The skull was long, having 44 low-crowned teeth. Hyracotherium is believed to have been a browsing herbivore that ate primarily leaves as well as some fruits and nuts.[3]

    So both c and d could be correct
