  1. If it goes from being a liquid to being a solid (freezing) at -189 C, then it can only do one other thing.  Go from being a solid to a liquid (melting).

    If the temperature before reaching -189 C is > -189 C eg. -188 C then it will be freezing.  If it is the other way around it would be melting.


  2. the first answerer is correct except about his last sentence. If the freezing pt of a substance is -189 C, then at -188 C it is melting, or in liquid form and at -190 C it is freezing, or in solid form, not the other way around...
