Question:

The fuel problem in Scotland?

What do you think is causing the current fuel 'crisis' in Scotland at the moment. In your opinion do you believe that it's the looming strike that's causing the current fuel shortage & panic buying. Or, do you believe that it's the way the press has been reporting on the fuel strike & working every car owner into a panic?

Should it have been reported at all? Especially since the fuel reserves in Scotland will stretch to 70 days even without any production at all from Grangemouth.

  1. Press created Panic!

They have enough reserves - it's only a freaking 2 day strike!

  2. the press can't 'not' report it. whilst they may have had an impact on the way people are reacting if people kept their hands and didn't panic then like you say there would be no crisis! it's a bit like northern rock . . .

  3. The Press start the panic, and people turn it in to chaos.

Like most things, if everyone behaved sensibly most of life's dramas wouldn't happen.

    xx

  4. Get a bike then

Ps Good work in keeping the panic going it will make the fuel run out quicker. lol

  5. It's a 'win-win' situation for the refinery employers. Fuel has shot up in price and they are not having to pay a wage bill for possibly a couple of months.  So to answer your question,  it was the employers who created the current situation and suckered the press in to fan the flame - how convenient for the employers.

  6. People going out and buying s**t loads of it in one day

  7. I have just spent an hour and 15 minutes in a petrol queue , and only managed to squeeze 61 pence worth of petrol into my tank. Something must be done about it, I say!!

ps for me, a car is not a luxury it's a necessity. I live in the country, and I have got a medical condition.  And I ran my next door neighbour's son to school once.
