Question:

The future of Zab Judah

This question came about after seeing a question as to who would win the Judah-Clottey fight. Given that he has already lost in high profile fights to Baldomir, Money May and Cotto at 147, if Judah should lose (and I don't see how Zab can win, unless Joshua is jobbed out of the fight by a silly decision), would that spell the end of his career at 147?

Not long ago, someone from Ring Magazine (forget who) suggested that the smartest thing for Zab to do would be to move up to 154. 154 is markedly weaker than 147, and would have a much better chance of winning a World title there - if indeed, he still wants it enough. What do you guys make of that? And also, if Zab went up to 154, how would he carry the extra weight?

Over to you...

  1. Ask Kostya Tszu.

Zab hasn't been the same since the round 2 knockout, by Kostya

  2. If he loses to Clottey his career will not be over, but he will just carry the label as a "journeyman"; the same was said about Antonio Margarito when he lost. Boxing is very fickle.

As far as him moving up to 154, he would contend with Mora, Forrest and Phillips, as well as Wright and Spinks (if they ever decided to move down), none of which are overly-menacing, but very challenging for Zab none the less.

The biggest problem for Zab would be the 147 pound fighters moving up; the most dangerous of them being Paul Williams, who, in my opinion, is more of a natural 154-160 pound fighter and would destroy Zab.

Zab is going to need a big win, if he ever wants to become a factor in the welterweight division, both 147 and/or 154

  3. He has become an A+ fighters stepping stone. I feel sorry for him, he is a great fighter with a lot of heart, but I just cant stand to listen to him talk, KNOW WHAT I'M SAYIN!!!!

  4. Jokes aside! Hes gonna start training boxers for a living~

  5. he has skills better than most others today have but don't how to use them or the full 12 rounds and his fights he lost he gave them away...

wasted his skills and is better than he is rated...i met him and i tell you what he was ok a nice man.  as not the one i saw before on tv..

but he is small skinny   140 trust me he is 140 fighter and be strong there.

  6. Judah won't be able to win either in 154.  He doesn't have the chin.  His career in boxing may probably come to an end, although, I know he can fight beautifully when he has the chance.

To be successful in boxing, fighters need to be all-round and are not allowed to have obvious weakness, or the career wouldn't last for long.

Judah just doesn't have enough chin to help him stay long in this career.

  7. not too sure who said to move up to 154, but moving DOWN to 140 would be a better decision.  he can maybe beat ricky hatton.

but here is a great head to head analysis of the judah vs clottey fight.

you can get your prediction in their fantasy league to be the champ and earn a prize....

  8. the future of zab will be told 2morrow night!

  9. I like Zab Judah because he has talent but his mentallity does not let him fullfill it to its greatest potiental. I feel Clottey is the more hunger plus the fresher fighter who has fought more recently then Judah and will outhustle Judah to a lat round stoppage or close decision victory. Plus Clottey will take Judah's best punches and walk him down to wear him out.
