  1. throttle return spring is worn out. replace it. its by the throttle body

  2. using an aerosol carberrator cleaner and some WD-40 you can clean and lube all the moving parts of your linkage,

  3. I had a Ford Focus do this.  It was a bad throttle body.  Cleaning it did not help.  We had to replace it.  Try cleaning it first of course.  It is cheaper and easier.

  4. The linkages are dirty.  Get some carb cleaner and spray clean the throttle body under the hood.

Have somebody sit in the car and repeated depress and let go of the gas pedal (with the engine off - it is safe).  Look under the hood for parts moving (on top of the engine are).  That is the throttle body.  On your car that is what is sticking.

    Good luck...

  5. The throttle body has a spring on it and returns the throttle position to low idle when you remove your foot from the pedal,, If it is sticking either the cable is damaged or rusty  or the throttle body spring is broken  have it check as soon as possible as this could cause an accident by staying at high idle and making you run into something or someone
