The gladiators of F1 are out in the arena
Many believe Formula One to be a race of machinery and technology, a squad consisting of the best cars and finest engineers and data analysts from around the world, providing velocity and technique to the sport. However, that’s not always true and especially
for this season.
As the season is left with only four more races, the blazing heat of the competition has become even more intense, with the top five drivers standing with a difference of just twenty five points. Who says the race is only about cars? Racing is rather a test
of the man behind the wheel, his mental and physical strength and endurance, and how much he is able to pull out of what he has got. The man with the strongest nerves, a lot of determination and best fighting spirit would be able to survive until the end,
this season.
Stefano Domenicali, the team principal of Ferrari while looking at the current situation of the charts, expresses his views saying that the remaining races now are an ordeal of driving skills of the top five men. He further explained that the way the contest
has shaped up, the car cannot alone save a driver rather a lot of things would together act as the final decisive factor.
The contest has now turned into a psychological battle, as the drivers need to combat with pressure and tension that is being served more and more with every passing race.
Moreover, the rest of the races would also be a test of the teams’ reliability and contesting ability. The race strategies of the teams and their collective effort towards the mutual goal would only bear the desired results for them.
With only four more races to go, most of the teams have already packed up their development work for this season’s car and are now working on their 2011’s package so one knows that the best has to be brought out from what they already have.
This season has seen some of the most unpredictable and uncertain things taking place on the track, the charts have emerged in such a surprising manner that still making a prediction is like chasing a wild goose.
Currently Mark Webber of Red Bull holds the top place after winning four races this season, whereas second place has been recently occupied by Ferrari's Fernando Alonso who had his fourth victory of the season at Singapore Grand prix last week.
Lewis Hamilton after coming pointless in three of the last four races has slipped down to third place with one hundred and eighty two points. The fourth and fifth places of Drivers’ championship has been occupied by Sebastian Vettel and Jenson Button bagging
one hundred and eighty one and one hundred and seventy seven points respectively.
At the present Red Bull has the advantage of having the fastest car yet all the rest four circuits might not suit them equally. Ferrari’s disadvantage at this point is that they have already used all the eight engines allocated for the season, and now they
have to run two of their used engines until the last race in Abu Dhabi.
On the other hand, McLaren kept using its seventh engine until the last race in Singapore and would be entering the Japanese Grand Prix with a new one. However, they have slowed down their development work and are now working on the next year’s car.
All this turns the end of the season even more interesting, though it has already been an unforgettable one. Now, the race fans would be able to see the real kind of drama that they wish to see. The war at the factories is over and the track is the last
and final arena where the gladiators would battle off the brutal season to bring forth the next lord of Formula One.
