  1. Probably not all, but for people whose can't afford it.

  2. And while the government is at the should also pay everyone's rent or mortgage that way there would be no homeless.

  3. Disagree. Socialized healthcare is beyond the scope of what government should be concerned with. It is not part of the "common defense" as it were.

  4. OK first of all the government covers every bodies health care right now. There is federal legislation that mandates that any ER treat anyone who walks in the door. No matter who - No matter what. The cost of that gets back to the workers in one way or another. Through higher taxes or health care premiums. The idea that people are dying in the streets from lack of health care is bull.

Now with that said let me point out that some kind of national plan would cost us less in the long run. We could do more preventive care and do more public health stuff that would save us money in the long run.

But none of this is going to happen as long as the insurance and the pharmaceutical industry are controlling the government through campaign contributions.

Until we get representatives in Washington that are independent and can vote for sensible things we are going to have the health care mess that we have now.

  5. Disagree.

Socialized medicine is successful only in the most basic cases. While, yes, places with socialized medicine like Canada, Cuba, and France may have good hospitals and good care - it's only for the most basic of problems.

You see...there is no money for doctors in socialized medicine countries, so...they don't work for hospitals. A lot of the specialized doctors run private clinics and cost far more than what a doctor with the same specialty here in the US would cost.

And since medicine is socialized in those countries, health insurance is a rarity. Which means if you need a specialist for something...you're paying through the nose and out of pocket.

    -SAY NO TO SOCIALIZED MEDICINE-

  6. Yes, Just because it does not work well some places does not mean we could not make it work here. EVERYONE should be entitled to quality health care. In response to part of trentrockport's answer to this question where he states that it does not have anything to do with the "common defense" I will assume he is referring to the preamble to the Constitution. In which case I refer him to the next line which reads "promote the general welfare".

Not everyone is lucky enough to work for a company that provides adequate health care coverage at a reasonable cost to employees. Usually the ones that don't are lower paying jobs which makes the problem even worse. Don't give me that garbage about if you do not like your job you are free to go somewhere else. This may be technically true but in the real world it is not always possible.

  7. It's in our nation's best interest to have healthy citizens.  It is also humane to have access to basic healthcare.  If we had a system in place that did not exclude people from access to basic healthcare--then I'd say that the government would not need to be involved.  Unfortunately, we don't have such a system in place. . .and many people are not able to get basic care because they cannot afford it.  This nation can do much better than that.

  8. why don't you get your healthcare and pay for it out of your pocket and i'll pay for mine.  Please keep your hand out of my pocket.

  9. I disagree.  We have too many "free-loaders" in this country. They are draining us of millions $$ year.  Cut them lose and use the $$ to balance the budget.

  10. I agree that the gov. should pay for everyones healthcare. It is not fair that some people have to die because they are not ball players, music producers, etc. Aren't we all important? A life is a life, rather rich or poor. I think it is sad to see that our morals are all out of whack in one of the most productive and leading countries in the world today.

  11. Which government? There is already socialize medicine that exist in other countries at a very high cost. We live in a capitalistic society, meaning if you want it ,get off your butt and earn it, instead of living off those that do

  12. right now if they paid for our health care it would be bad - the reason being that the government is too corrupt - they would use us as guinea pigs.

we are being used as guinea pigs right now - but i think it would be worse.

now that being said - when we are offered the Same benefits as congress, senate and the white house - then i would say ok.

  13. Why should my tax dollars go to provide YOU with medical insurance. Is'nt that YOUR responsibility.

  14. No. They are stealing to much of my money now. Hold a bake sale to raise the money and then you can pay for it. Leave me out.

  15. well, since the government gets its money from us, then your question should be "the people should pay for everyones healthcare".  Frankly, my taxes are too high now, as is the cost of my own insurance.

Get your own, it doesn't cost as much as you might think.

  16. Disagree.  The American taxpayer has enough of a burden currently, without adding anything extra.  What needs to be done is all of the bull c**p lawsuits against doctors and hospitals (if you have a real issue, then okay) needs to be thrown right out of court.  Plus, all of the fraudulant charges that are charged to medical insurance, whether by the doctor or whoever, needs to be taken care of.  Then, the insurance companies need to lower those astronomical rates.

The government screws up everything it touches.  Healthcare needs to be fixed, not fouled up beyond all recognition.  You don't need to wait 6 or 8 months for emergency surgery.
