The groom earns the PGA Tour cards for the year 2011
The last leg of the PGA Tour Qualifying round commenced from the 1st of December and ended this Monday with one Canadian audaciously earning the PGA Tour cards for 2011, before his marriage.
The Q-school bought forward a total of 19 players from previous round sand thus completed a cult of 150 players from various struggles. From the line-up led by Billy Mayfair, Chris Baryla and Matt McQuillan played a tournament that will be sending a total
of top 25 players with full playing rights to the PGA Tour for 2011. Other than that, the next 50 golfers will be awarded with full cards for the second-tier Nationwide Tour.
The golfers from Vernon, B.C and Kingston, Ont. thus earned the Tour cards after finishing at T 11 and T 16 where Baryla accepted the card about 20 days before his wedding.
According to statistics, Baryla scored a decent 66 on the 6th of December with a calculated 6 under. The golfer managed to play a total of 417 strokes that handed him a massive minus 12 to place him on the eleventh place tied.
Apart from Baryla, his Canadian compatriot, McQuillan played 418 strokes collectively that placed the golfer on a minus 11 standing. The Canadian golfer thus scored a 71 in the last round of the 6-round event with a minus 1.
According to Baryla his trek to the PGA Tour card had been rather mind boggling. The soon to be married golfer is joined by Stephen Ames, Mike Weir and Graham DeLaet as other Canadians on the PGA Tour.
“My current status is a full year which is opposite to an injury extension”. Baryla said.
The twenty eight year old golfer considers the PGA Tour card as a great send off and said that his hip injury didn’t really bother him much. Baryla had to undergo a hip surgery in last spring which reportedly had gotten better till his play on Monday.
Considering the scenario from the score card, the Canadian golfer scored the highest in the second last round of the event with a 74 and the lowest of 61 in the second round of the tournament. Chris Baryla’s overall performance had been a bit inconsistent
throughout as he carded a 72, 73, 71 and a 66 in the first, third, fourth, fifth and sixth rounds.
The last round started with Baryla tied at the 36th place and he played a splendid game of unbelievable 5 birdies in a row. The carded marvel was carried out at the first five holes of the event from hole number 1 to 5 that placed him higher on
the leader board than expected.
“I’m healthy and I’m in form, overall I feel I played a good round of golf”
The twenty eight year old has a total of 7 starts at the PGA Tour from this spell and has earned a total dollar amount of US 157,092.
