Why do you have to talk about football? if you really dont know anything about it maybe talk about something you know for a fact he knows and likes. Or ask around and see what position he plays and talk about that.

That can actually really be used to your advantage. You can tell him you don't know much about football and ask him to explain it to you! ;)

You don't need o talk about football because he hs to like other things too or it will never work out if you \don't like it. you should talk about music or something else everyone loves. You might want to learn about footall if you want to tlk about that with him. But f you feel pressured to talk about something you don't like hes totally not worth it.
