  1. well do u think that singing national anthem is a waste of time?? haka is equivalent to the national anthem for the all blacks.

  2. No, The AB's deserve a war dance. The Maori's are still a live and their language is still a live too. So they have a right to be proud. The Australians would have a war dance but the Aboriginals and their old ways were peaceful so its not much of a war dance. So no, its not a waste of time. Its actually entertaining

  3. They do it to intimidate the opposition.....

( but their fans won't admit this because they want to make it more mystical or important than "just pulling silly faces"...so it won't get banned or ignored).

But if you for example say it should be banned (or at least put before the anthems) and your home teams cultural displays should go last, their fans and their media and press will imply you're a nation cowards..and  are frightened of it.

    Yep...Blackmail.

It's also about paying respect to the opposition..or importantly withholding respect to the opposition..(there are two hakas..one more important than the other..so inevitably ones about with-holding respect..).which again is a wierd national emblem to adopt.

So what they are essentially saying with the two Haka approach is...

We'Il visit your country enjoy all your hospitality...but won't perform the top notch respectful haka..like we did with the other chaps (the other chaps being your lifelong enemies down the road btw) we played last week....because - hey...we talked about how deserving your nation is before the match...and as.we are now the self styled adjudicators of bravery,  history and warrier traditions of nations worldwide, we're sorry but we decided your nation  doesn't measure up - or isn't  deserving of the proper Haka..

It is actually quite surprising the cheeky arrogant insulting tossers don't get run out of town frankly.

  4. No! It's an important cultural aspect of the AB's game.

  5. helllll noo!

its a traditional war dance which was performed before every battle and rugby is included as a battle. :)

  6. to nonenzed-try taking a lesson in maori culture.

If the IRB had no problem then I dont see why its a waste of time. The haka is what bring new fans across the globe to the game of rugby. Its intriguing from a non nz point of view.

If people talk about how unnecessary the haka is then why arent people complaining about the haka performed by Fiji, Samoa and Tonga?  People just love taking a shot at a team that continues to dominate the game.

  7. Its showing the other team you have respect for them and for the tough match about to come

And they have been doing it for 100 years so why change

Anyone who says its designed to intimidate the other team is an idiot that needs to come to new zealand and see what it means to Maori culture (get to know the story behind it and why it is)

  8. Haka are performed by high school first 15 teams right across NZ and there are more than just two. It is not just a bloody AB thing - its a kiwi rugby club and school tradition.

  9. No the haka is not the waste of time. The follwing eighty minutes is the great decider of this. An all black team has to live up to the reputation of the haka performed which involves physically and defiantly mocking the opposition. It does set a precedence for the all blacks defending their reputation and the opposition doing something in reply or retaliation. The all blacks provoked the aussies and were simply put on their backsides after the haka.

  10. should only be done if they win, and then only by the all blacks and the kiwis, not by every whim at some so called special occasion.

  11. Nah..Watching the haka or even the players standing in front of them makes you scared..they look like the meanest beast in rugby..I don't think its wasting time..

  12. AB's should start doing it in their lockers again if there's any controversy. What about national anthems I guess they waste time too?.

  13. No, but me answering this question is.

  14. no its entertaining.

  15. No not really.
