  2. Trust me, that's definitely not the hardest rule in French =]

    It's actually not even a rule - you simply have to memorize each individual case.

    Je parle à Jean-Luc (I'm speaking TO Jean-Luc)

    Je parle de mes ananas  (I'm speaking ABOUT my bananas)

    You can even have a 'de' before and an 'à' after, or vice-versa.

    Je vais essayer de commencer à parler anglais (I'm going to try to start speaking English)

    Don't worry, though.  It will come naturally after a while.
