National Hockey League (NHL) is definitely one of the most popular and thrilling games of the world but the league officials are damaging the reputation of the game by locking out the players and not letting it go ahead for the second time in last one decade.
Having a big fan following, the hockey crazy people are eager to see their favourite players and want to the best hockey action but are continuously deprived of it. And that is something that can make people against the game and even turn into a boycott
of the best league of the world.
The sport’s popularity was at its best and it was advancing very well so the lockout has come at the worst possible time and will clearly dent the progress and promotion of the game badly.
Now the league is starting to have a reputation of lockout league as it has been locked out for the third time in last 20 years. Media will also think before covering the events of the league because they know it is an inconsistent league and the future
of the game is not secure.
The team owners pay the millions of dollars to the players to reserve their services and bring best players of the world but now they will also worry when spending their money as it results in a loss when there is a lockout. It could also result in the dropping
of the game level as owners would not be able to bring in the top class players by spending big money cheques.
The franchises are already claiming that they are going in loss but the NHL officials are demanding the increase in the revenues.
The advertising agencies and the new brands look for the promotion of their companies by investing in the game of hockey but when they would find the lockout, they would turn to the other games and instead of spending money on ice hockey, they will find
games which are going on and running the business successfully.
NHL lockout will not only damage the American hockey but also the world of hockey as it has been the most successful and powerful league in the history of the game and will bring a bad name to it.
