The heat is on for upcoming 2011 FIVB Men’s World League competition
The 2011 FIVB World League is fast approaching as the event is scheduled to run from May 27 to July 10.
A total of 16 teams are supposed to join the battle. The grid of participating teams have been finalised and teams have been divided into four pools. The pools composition is as followed:

Pool A – Brazil, Poland, United States and Puerto Rico Pool B – Russia, Bulgaria, Germany and Japan Pool C – Serbia, Argentina, Finland and Portugal Pool D – Cuba, Italy, France and South Korea
This is the high time that all the participating teams are busy preparing for the competition. The domestic training sessions and friendly matches with other countries are keeping the athletes very much busy in the court.
In this regard, teams from Serbia and Bulgaria recently played a series of friendly matches at the weekend. Serbia pulled off success in the first match, while Bulgaria made a great comeback in the second match. Hence, both teams showed their intent to give
a hard time to their pool members in the coming matches. The friendly matches also helped them to get in order before the opening of FIVB World League.
Serbian team, which settled for third position in the last edition of the FIVB World League, is fully prepared to showcase a stunning performance in the tournament. Two years back, they also clinched a silver medal but the Serbs have not earned the gold
yet. This time around, the team seems desperate to capture their first title. They will be required to exhibit a prolific performance, in order to live up their dream of holding the title trophy.
On the other hand, Bulgaria is also working hard to gather better ranking points in the upcoming competition. The team missed out the qualification for Final Round of the competition with a narrow margin, last year. They have finished in the fourth place
for four times but have not been featured in the top-three teams of the competition. Currently, the team enjoys a great form and has set an aim to do better.
The 2011 FIVB World League will start with the preliminary robin round, while Serbian and Bulgarian teams will have to overcome the Pool C and Pool B team respectively. If they would be able to make a good start, they can certainly vie for the top positions
of the competition.
