The heatshild on Cat converter?

the heat sheild on my cathlolic converter is loose and rattling when i accerlerate. i have been told its ok to have the heatsheild removed as it will be safe without it but im unsure about this. have also being told you can have it weilded back on, any thoughts?

my car is a fiesta 1.1i k reg 93 model

  1. just drill a few holes in it and use nuts and bolts to secure it more tightly than it was.

    drill the holes in the heat shield not the catalitic converter.


  2. do not remove it...its for your protection....the cat converter can get really hot at high speeds and the heat shield helps protects that heat from damaging your car........you can go to a muffler shop and get it fixed really easy.....i should cost about 40$ max and will take less than 10mins when its on the lift.

  3. you can also get enough worm clamps, join them together and wrap them around your cat and tighten down.
