  1. You need to turn these options on from the > START > Settings > Control Panel > Power Options.

  2. sometimes they aren't necessary and sometimes it is necessary to turn off your computer the proper way. Mine does that too, but after i turn it off properly it will let me click those buttons again.

  3. You have to enable your computer to HIBERNATE. To do this, follow these instructions.

1)Go to START, then click on Control Panel

    2) Click on PERFORMANCE AND MAINTENANCE. If you cannot see see this option, switch your view to Category View.

3)Click on POWER OPTIONS. This should be under a list of option and should have a picture of a battery with a power plug.

4)Once in the POWER OPTIONS window, click on the Hibernate tab.

    5) From there, it should have a box next to the words, ENABLE HIBERNATE. Tick this box and you are done.

I do not know the the STAND BY button is shadowed out, as it should be there. Just try to enable HIBERNATE and it might also enable STAND BY.  :)

  4. You should never use the hibernate button. Not good for your computer.

When you do not use for hours and hours switch it off, when you regulllary use during the day leave it on. Do not hibernate it.

  5. dont use hibernate. not super necessary. standby is just as good.
