Question:

The hole above my fireplace for a TV?

Ok does anyone else have a hole above their fireplace in their home for what would be the TV place? I dont mind the TV being there but after trying to add a Bose 321 system and a few other components cables are hanging down the side of the mantle and all that trashy looking stuff.

My question to anyone who had this issue in their home, how did you handle all the cables and such, and stacking of equipment so it isnt touching the roof. I am sure not using the area is an answer but I do not have a floor standing entertainment stand at the moment.

Thanks for any advice

  1. I see that in a lot of new homes I work in. You can put the wires through the walls, or hire someone to do it for you.

Another option, if you don't want to poke holes, is to put up some decorative molding in a pattern to hide the wires behind. Or wood frames or panels. You can build a fake front on your fireplace along with a Mantle that could be wide enough to set decorative boxes on that could hide some additional smaller components.

The sell covers that you anchor onto your wall that the wires can hide in. Like flat little tubes. You still see them, but it doesn't look as trashy as black wires all over the place, and you can get them or paint them the same color as your wall.

  2. you can try fishing the wire behind the drywall.
