I know a lot of different people that have very successful home based business.  It doesn't matter what industry you choose, because it's not the business itself that makes is successful, it's the person doing the business that makes it successful.  Any business can be successful for one and the same business for another be unsuccssful.  You can't judge any type of business based on the business, just on yourself.

Businesses takes time to build.  You have to put effort into it.  You can't walk into a business thinking it's going to be successful because someone else was.  You can't look at a business and think it's going to be a failure because someone else failed.  You need to look within yourself and see if you can do what is required to have a successful business.  Then put all your effort and turn it into your passion and build yourself a successful business.

Out of all the businesses out there, I think the type of home based business that in my opinion would be in telecommunications because people are always going to use some sort of phone service.  Rather it be a land line, cell phone, Internet television etc.  People will use them every day and pay for them every month.  They don't have to re-order products each month and sale them to the public in order to make their monthly income.  Telecommunications business owners don't have to wait for people to finish what their using and re-order.  Making for slow months.  When money is tight for the consumers, the business owners really don't have to worry about them running to the dollar store to buy a similiar product that is cheaper to save money. It's a monthly usage that people will always be using and paying for each month from billings in which the business owners get a percentage month after month.
