  1. my winnings

  2. everything has been said on this topic which needed saying except that goofnwfy has a lovely bookie if he repays on horses which have pulled up.  You must be very good looking,g.

  3. the horse primarily, but the jockey as well.  sure it sucks to bet money and have the horse not even finish, but that issue in comparison to the lives involved is minor.  I find it difficult to watch steeplechasing just because I'm nervous at every jump... it's bad enough to see one horse fall, but it's extra bad when there's a whole group of horses coming to a jump because if the first one falls, the ones in the back are still jumping and they don't know that there's a fallen horse and rider on the other side.  I don't want either the horse or the jockey to be injured, but I'm a little more concerned about the horse... when a jockey is hurt, he misses some races... but when a horse is hurt, it's either death or a hard fought struggle for life.

  4. both the horse and the jockey.  Both could get seriously injured.  Unfortunately, most horses are euthanized b/c of the severity of their injuries.

If you wager on a horse and it is pulled up in a race, your money is refunded so, your money wagered should not even be a concern to you.

  5. i'd say the horse because they always seem to fall really awkwardly

  6. I agree with Horseman's Pal - your first thought must be with the jockey.  Thankfully jockey fatalities are very rare these days.  A lady I work with is the daughter of a successful jumps trainer in the 60s and 70s and she has told me horror stories about what happened to some jockeys that they had employed.

Of course we have to be concerned about the horses, and no true horse racing fan can say otherwise, but at the end of the day given the choice between any animal and a human, the human must always come first.

To me, the money I bet is disposable - you should never bet more than you can adffored to lose otherwise you are a fool.

  7. great question seriously iam appauled by some of the things i hear at racecourses no real genuine race lover wants to see a horse or jockey get injured but unfortunatley racecourses attract corprate p#ss ups hens and stagg partys these days and its quite obvious thet no little or nothing about racing my heart is in my mouth when  a horse falls wherther i have backed it or not

the horse and jockeys safety  is paramount and profit doesnt come near. any genuine race lover will tell you there main concern is the horse and jockey.

  8. over my career with horses i have seen 4 of my friends get killed either racing or hunting- as a human being the first thought is with the jockey.the second with the horse as it is just doing what comes naturally and has no axe to grind.money is the least of my concerns but important nonthe less.these days the animal vet care is top class at events and so it should be,so i have to say that the jockey is my main concern, closely followed by the horse.

  9. the horse
