I was watching a Russian TV network were they showed the Russian air force exploding a hydrogen bomb. But there wasn't any radioactivity after it exploded.

  1. First - hydrogen (fusion) bombs are generally much more powerful than fission bombs; in fact, fusion bombs require a fission bomb to act as the trigger. Second - yes, there was radioactivity after it exploded - from the fission trigger if nothing else.

  2. Hydrogen bombs are fusion bombs, which are, along with fission bombs, nuclear bombs.  Fusion bombs are many times more powerful than fission.  Your question, or statement more like, has no meaning because they are both the same, although I am guessing you were confused with the terms.

  3. The hydrogen bomb is way MORE powerful than a conventional nuclear bomb. It's because fusion (aka thermonuclear reaction) releases much more energy. Thermonuclear reaction is what powers our Sun and other stars.

The Russian Tsar bomb was much cleaner than the usual nuclear bombs, but it still released radioactivity.

  4. Ok, a nuclear bomb is really an atomic bomb. Nowadays we call all weapons using atoms "nuclear bombs."

An atom bomb is weaker than a hydrogen bomb. Atom bombs usually use uranium or plutonium. These atoms are alot more complex than simple hydrogen. Hydrogen releases all its energy much quicker.

Since hydrogen fuses with other atoms it does not result in radiation. The sheer size of the blast would probably be far more catastrpohic though.

Atom bombs leave radioactivity because they are fission bombs. This means that atoms hit each other. when they hit each other they release electrons or negatively charged atom energy. This then goes through peoples body and posions them.

hydrogen fuses with other aoms but doesn;t release energy just creates explosion.

  5. No, the Nuclear bomb can kill more unfortunately.

  6. Yes there was radioactivity.  A hydrogen bomb IS a nuclear bomb.  Your facts are not facts at all.

  7. To clear this up just a little, the fission bomb is the original nuke, chemical explosives compress a mass of a fissile material for enough time to allow the neutrons to multiply so that  many atoms of the U235 or whatever split, forming lighter atoms and releasing energy because the product nuclei have less mass than the fissioned nuclei. Now it so happens that at such extreme temperatures and pressures it is possible with some ingenuity to create an even greater neutron storm by fissioning of a compound of light atoms such as Li,deuterium etc, creating even greater numbers of fast neutrons,Finally the multibomb is encased in a massive casing of U238 which ,guess what?Is capable of bieng fissioned by fast neutrons. So at least one kind of hydrogen bomb is a Fission/fusion/fission bomb.So whatever happens, you start with fission and MUST produce radioactive fallout of fission products.

  8. This must be a very old TV clip, since the original five nuclear powers stopped all testing many years ago, and surface testing some years before that.

The soviet union was not to be trusted in its press releases, so if it said there was no radioactivity, you don't have to believe them.
