In my opinion the idea that mens shouldn't cry is cultural and is not accepted widely. This is not meant in offense to anyone but these are my personal opinions:

a farmer, truck driver, laborer from the south or midwest would say men shouldn't cry, and that would be held by a lot of people from a cutlure.

a Jewish lawyer from the NYc metropolitan area would think that men crying is a non-issue and that view would be accepted by people from that same cultural background.

See my point. Agree or disagree with any points?

  1. I think that the widely held belief is that the more masculine gender, males, should not outwardly express emotion via sadness. Men are pressured to be more masculine and "tough" which involves not crying, they're supposed to be the stronger s*x while the crying is left the women.

I believe that in many places, "men shouldn't cry" is not accepted and that people understand that. however, I think the widely held belief has always been that males should not cry because of the media and word of mouth overtime.

different cultures might take this differently and be more accepting of the idea of men crying as the norm, but widely held is always the belief that it is "unmanly" for men to cry and won't do it for the fear of social persecution.

  2. I disagree that one is not culture oriated, culture takes both women and men, in action, thoughts, dancing and many others.
