The impact of the two giants' hegemony in Spanish football

The two giants, Real Madrid and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604, are undoubtedly the two dominating clubs in Spain. They are the most successful clubs too, since together they have won 53 La Liga titles.
Nowadays, it is just the two Spanish football giants, Barcelona and Real Madrid, who are always on the limelight. Be it who wins La Liga or Copa del Rey.
It is their players who have been breaking records that stood for many years and ending up with the golden boot for the past few years.
Additionally, the majority of players who are contending for the Ballon d’Or are also from these two clubs.
The last time these two teams didn’t share the spoils of La Liga was when Valencia won the title in 2003-2004 season. Since then Barca and Real have beem winning the domestic title.
It is clear from these stats that these two giants are in a world of their own. They have overshadowed every other team in the Spanish League.
The same is not true for other European Leagues. For instance, the English Premier League is no longer a two-horse race.
Four different teams have won the Premier League in the last eight years. The domination of Manchester United has been broken. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, Chelsea and Man City have made life difficult for the Red Devils.
What the norm in the Premier League was before has now become a thing of the past. For instance, the traditional top four in the Premier League have been broken. At the moment, no one can even predict which teams will qualify for the Champions League next
season.
The same is also true in the Italian Serie A. Hegemony of two giants doesn’t exist there. Although http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan won the title in five consecutive seasons, it was the other Milan-based team, AC Milan, that toppled them off to break their dominance. The season
after that, Juventus came to claim the title.
This is not to say the Spanish League is inferior to other European Leagues and that the remaining Spanish clubs cannot simply challenge Barca and Real.
Time and time again teams from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 was a tough nut to crack in Europe. For two consecutive years in the Champions League, they came to the finals, albeit they were unfortunate to lift
the trophy.
Sevilla have achieved success in Europe as they also have won two consecutive Europa Leagues.
Likewise, the other team from the capital, Atletico Madrid, are the current reigning Europa League winners and now they are the favourites to lift the trophy again this season.
They even dismantled http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, the winners of Europe’s most prestigious trophy, the Champions League, when they encountered them in the Super Cup final.
So it is clear that some of the remaining 18 teams in La Liga can challenge other European clubs and at the same time become successful.
The fact that Real and Barca are the two invincible teams in Spain may have to do with other reasons. What we know is that Real Madrid coach, Jose Mourinho, feels that even if other teams from Europe joined the Spanish League, they will be third best to
Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The fact is that the gap between this duo and the remaining 18 in La Liga is widening. One reason might be the unequal distribution of revenues from TV rights. Regardless, the long term effects of this huge gap in the Spanish football might be ignored now,
but soon rather than later its consequences will be felt.
