Lack of emerging superstars in Pakistan Cricket - an opinion
In the current scenario, after a barrage of controversies in Pakistan cricket, the country is caught in a predicament where for the first time in its decade long history of talented players, a void has appeared, where young players lack in talent and potential
to take on competitive cricket by the horns.
Pakistan, a country which has always relied on raw talent to take them to heights in the sport of cricket, now is desperately seeking the induction of tough cricket prone individuals.
The youngsters included in the national squad over the past few years have to some extent crashed and burned after a couple of international series.
And if this habit continues Pakistan faces a similar fate to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, who once ruled the cricket world, but now cannot find players capable enough to handle the pressures of international cricket.
While the team indulges in bickering over captaincy, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials should divert their attention towards a more important issue and that is to locate and train players for the future if they want to remain a big name in the world
of cricket.
A few years back, Pakistan established its first cricket academy in Lahore according to world standards, however, as of now the players who have come out of that academy lack in skill needed to subdue other nations.
Players like the flamboyant middle-order batsman Umar Akmal should have been ready for international cricket, but unfortunately the player still lacks in temperament and loses his wicket at the worst possible time, failing to convert a well tamed innings
into a century.
With Akmal, Pakistan need players like Asad http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755.
However, Shafiq is still not a permanent choice in the team which shows the lack of trust the team management has in him.
Now on to the bowling, it is painful to see a country that enjoyed superiority in the fast bowling department since its inception, now has only one main strike bowler in the form of Umar Gul, relying on one fast bowler is not only unjustified but also harmful
for the career of the bowler.
The exclusion of pacer Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir from the national team after their involvement in spot-fixing as left a hole in the bowling department and until and unless PCB finds a couple of genuine fast bowlers, Pakistan is going to sink deeper
in the pits of trouble.
The country needs to take lead from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 and England, as these countries no longer rely on raw talent, instead they nurture their players and then unleash them when they are absolutely ready to take on the pressure of playing in international arena.
The current players in the Australian outfit have all come out of their academy and their talent speaks loud and clear.
Pakistan’s legendary all-rounder Imran Khan is a big supporter of raising the standard of domestic cricket which would produce hardcore players, not afraid to play for international audience.
Pakistan’s current high profile players such as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 and Younis Khan are at the twilight of their career and will soon fade away, which will again leave a bigger void and in order to avoid this situation the board needs to work now than later.
