  2. always speak the postive  - instead of don't do that - we say "use your walking feet - or use your inside voice" - leave out the negative words of don't and no.  Speaking with parents is the same way - we use the sandwich effect - something good, squeeze in what needs worked on - end with something else good.

  3. How much are you going to pay me for doing your homework!?

It helps the families feel at ease while their children are in school.  If the parents have a good relationship with their child's teacher, they won't worry about their child throughout their day at work.  Also, nobody knows more about a child then their family. They're a very good resource in learning about the child.
