  1. i strongly support the idea of mental strenght being beneficial but it isn't as important as physical strength a good example wa the wimpledon final Federer vs. Nadal

  2. When you get to advanced tennis its much more important. There comes to a point where everyone knows how to hit a killer forehand/backhand/volley/serve/dropshot/... But what really matters is who can do that when there are 1million people+ watching them, how about the world? How about when they're down 2 sets to nothing and they are presumptiously the best tennis player of all time? Mental game > physical game. But when you're just beginning to play tennis its much more important that you know how to hit.

  3. Yes mental strength is very important especially when the game is on the line you must rose to the occasion and keep yourself up under pressure. Otherwise the tendency you will choke and eventually lose.

  4. It's very important, especially towards the end of the match. Mental stregth and focus are the big things players need to focus on.. aswell as obviously their ability.

When two players are nearly equally matched though, mental strength and of course a bit if luck will be the deciding thing. If one player isn't focused the other will nearly always win.

  5. One needs to concentrate on their game first. If you believe in your game and execute, then your opponent is an after thought.

  6. Well a person has to have ability and physical strength and what not. That definatly comes first. But to actually be able to win you need a lot of mental strength. You need to be able to find your opponents weaknesses but also you need to stay calm when under pressure. When losing a match it is easy for the mental part of your game to suffer, which definatly brings down you physical part of the game. It's all connected!

  7. i think in all sports mental power is always an edge plus timing, accuracy, agility. how can we play with out focus? even working out in the gym with out your mind with you progress in building up muscles would be slow.

  8. Even though i am only in high school tennis i believe mental strength is the most important part of winning. Me and my doubles partner figured out if you get bummed out and feel like giving up but continue to play you will lose. Even so too much confidence is bad because you will get so conceited that you ignore your weak points and lose. You need the right balance of confidence for winning and perseverance to play a good match.
